
The Foreign Correspondents Club (FCC) in Central is hosting a Jazz festival from June 25-27. If you enjoy jazz/live music check it out.
WHO: Playing will be the the guitarist Eugene Pao, one of the few Hong Kong jazz musicians to make a name for himself overseas. Another is the American pianist Allen Youngblood, who has long been a cornerstone of the local scene, having cut a few CDs and done some interesting work with digital music. One of the most intriguing performers is Yuki Makita, a woman who is described as “the only chamamé accordion artist in Japan.”
WHEN: On Thursday and Friday (25/26 June), the festival takes place from 7 to 11 p.m. For non-members, it’s 175 Hong Kong dollars (about $22), which includes two drinks. For members, it’s free, so book early. On Saturday (27 June), the festival goes from 9:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. For non-members, 488 Hong Kong dollars (about $63) gets you a full dinner and unlimited drinks.
